After demolishing the existing basement in this single-family Calgary home, we put up new frost walls to create a more appealing appearance. We also added a guest bedroom and bathroom to allow the client to make as much from this space as possible. For times where guests weren’t present, we also added an office space, wet bar, and central entertainment area. Whether it’s for hosting, entertainment, or work, this basement fits the bill.
We also made a number of other additions to the space, including 25 LED potlights, decora plugs and switches, a new insulation and vapour barrier, and a textured ceiling and level 4 finish drywall. The home’s trim, paint and doors were also changed to match the home’s upper levels. For flooring, we placed a 5 mm luxury vinyl plank throughout the basement.

All Basement Builders clients have the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of fixtures and other bathroom components for our suppliers. For this installation, our client selected a full customized vanity and makeup table, as well as a larger 7x5 custom shower with 10mm glass doors and a bench for more accessibility. We also were able to provide additional storage by creating a linen closet in the bathroom. Finally, we jackhammered the floor to rearrange rough-ins.

Internet and TV were also ran to the bedroom. For additional features, in this area, we also installed custom cabinetry under the TV area, as well as a quartz top for the built-ins. Finally, HDMI and Internet were terminated at the built-ins to make it easier to set up gaming consoles. The other major addition to this central space was a fully functional 36” linear fireplace, with tiles from floor to ceiling and stone accents.
