The first impression of this northwest Calgary basement renovation begins with the glass door we installed, providing separation and sound-proofing. The experience continues with the stairs, where we removed and replaced the carpeting with a cozy neutral-coloured 38-ounce carpet, with a lifetime stain warranty. The 8-pound underlay ensures soft steps down to the lower level of the home. Storage space is maximized with two closets, to the left and right of the staircase.
When faced with overly large mechanical room, we got creative. We took advantage of the under-utilized space by building a home gym within it. We also set the stage for a future 48” barn door to the flex room by installing the backing, for even more of a buffer for noisy game and movie nights within. The stylish sliding door will do double duty by bringing an elevated sense of character to the room.

The living room is a dream space for entertaining guests as well as family, with the media zone focused around a large screen television. We installed our storied TV Package to mount the screen to the wall, keeping a clean look by hiding all unsightly wires.
The media zone is anchored by a seven-foot custom wet bar with two floating shelves. We matched the granite countertop with the home’s upstairs counters, and added a tile backsplash to create the sense of the bar having its own nook. With a mini fridge for beverages and the sink, it’s possible that the area may see some spills, so we surrounded the bar with luxury vinyl plank for easy cleanup, adding to the sensation of designated space.
