This basement suite development was done for a single-family home in Calgary. Being a basement suite, we had to put a lot of thought into how the rooms would be arranged for maximum convenience. In the end, we focused on the two bedrooms and their accompanying storage on one side of the basement, with the bathroom, laundry area, and family area on the other. The kitchen is an offshoot of the family area.
We added a second furnace and larger hot water tank to support 2 families. Cosmetically, we matched the trim and paint to the main level, while also installing a swing door to replace the existing back sliding door. For a basement suite, longevity is a priority, so we installed 5mm luxury vinyl plank as flooring throughout the basement.

Being a suite, we needed to make sure this was a fully-equipped kitchen. This included putting in a new dishwasher, stove and refrigerator. We also added hood fan for the stove, as well as a full-height backsplash.

The single bathroom for the suite is built around a tub-shower combination. For the bathroom flooring we’ve put in large format tile. The other central feature is a 31” inch vanity with a custom cut mirror. To complete the bathroom, we added Moen toiletries and fixtures.
